According to Tech.eu and Tech Funding News, Entourage has closed its second fund with a total of €100 million. The Ghent based fund manager had initially set a target of €75 million for this vehicle. A goal that was surpassed within just two weeks.

The fund invests in pre-seed and seed-stage companies, with plans for approximately 25 portfolio investments. Initial investment amounts range from €1 million to €5 million, with additional reserves set aside for follow-on funding. Entourage’s first fund focused primarily on the software sector.

Pieterjan Bouten, who previously served as CEO of Showpad for over a decade, founded Entourage in March 2024 as a venture studio and early-stage fund. According to Tech Funding News, the fund’s investors include entrepreneurs, family offices, and private investors. Among them the founders of Aikido, TechWolf, and Collibra.

As of 29 October, the median fund size among the 115 funds tracked by the 'Close Index' that invest exclusively in the pre-seed and seed stages is €43.7 million. Only 16 of these funds reach a volume of €100 million or more.

Creating more 'unicorns' requires more than just late-stage capital. In my view, a robust early-stage ecosystem is essential. One where experienced founders become investors themselves, reinvesting both capital and expertise into the next generation of start-ups. Entourage fits perfectly into this model.
