Who Close Index is for

Close Index brings together publicly announced venture capital fund closes across Europe. It helps founders put together an investor shortlist and investors find managers to consider for co-investment.

Founders building an investor shortlist

When preparing a funding round, you need to know which investors are worth approaching. The directory helps you narrow that search and keep track of the funds you want to look into.

  1. Start with the stages and sectors relevant to your company. Country refers to the manager’s headquarters, which may differ from where the fund invests.
  2. Read the fund’s stated strategy and close announcement. Check its usual investment size and recent activity on the manager’s website or by contacting the team.
  3. Keep promising funds on your watchlist and share the shortlist with your team. Saved entries stay in your browser.

Investors researching co-investment partners

For investors looking for a partner on a round, recent fund closes offer a useful way to find managers with a relevant investment focus.

  1. Look for overlap in stage, sector and investment geography.
  2. Review the manager’s recent investments and approach to funding rounds. The reported fund size does not tell you how much it would invest in a single company.
  3. Contact the manager to discuss a specific round. Close Index does not list live deals or arrange introductions.

Other research uses

LPs and funds of funds
Follow fund closes and identify managers for further research. Whether a fund is still accepting commitments needs to be checked with the manager.
Accelerators, associations and public programmes
Compare reported closes by headquarters and stage to understand the investor landscape around a programme or region.
Service providers
Find managers to research before approaching them about legal, recruitment or other fund services. A new close does not necessarily mean they need a new provider.
Corporate teams
Look for managers active in sectors relevant to your business as a first step in partnership research.
Portfolio and platform teams
Prepare an investor shortlist for a portfolio company’s next round. Check each manager’s strategy and usual investment size before making an introduction.

Scope and limitations

The directory covers publicly announced European VC first and final fund closes since 1 January 2025, from €10m. Figures are reported fund sizes, not the capital still available to invest. A close does not establish that a manager is currently investing, would back your company or is willing to co-invest.

Coverage is not guaranteed to be complete, and some details may be missing from public announcements. The directory does not replace due diligence. Confirm current information with the manager before making contact.
