European venture capital and growth funds

Close Index records publicly announced European venture capital (VC) and growth fund closings since 1 January 2025. Use the records to build an investor shortlist or research potential co-investment partners, then check each manager’s current strategy and activity.

What the directory records

The VC selection includes venture capital and explicitly labelled growth funds, including growth funds far larger than typical venture funds. VC coverage starts at €10m. The wider directory also lists private equity buy-out funds under PE, with no minimum size. Venture debt, studios and evergreen funds are excluded.

How venture capital, growth equity and buy-out differHow to find startup investors in Europe

Entries show reported closing dates and fund sizes, with stages, sectors, headquarters and source links where available. Expanded records can include investment geography, fund generation and manager details. A missing detail says nothing about the quality of the fund.

Build an investor shortlist

  1. Select VC to include venture capital and growth funds. Narrow the list by the stages and sectors that match your company.
  2. Treat fund size and closing date as context. Fund size is not the amount a manager would invest in your company, and a recent close does not mean capital is still available.
  3. Open each record and read its geographical focus, manager details and linked announcement. Check the manager’s website for investment criteria, usual cheque size and recent investments.
  4. Save promising entries to your watchlist and share or export the selection. Watchlist entries stay in your browser. Confirm fit and current activity with the manager before you reach out.

Headquarters and investment geography

Country filters show fund headquarters, not the countries where a fund invests. A manager based in one European country may invest across the continent. Read the geographical focus in the expanded record and check the manager’s stated mandate before you rule a fund out or get in touch.

Research potential co-investment partners

Investors can narrow recorded closings by sector, stage, size and period to find managers worth a closer look. Comparing two selections shows how their closing activity differs. Review the managers’ strategies and recent investments, then contact them about a specific opportunity. Close Index does not arrange introductions, and a shared sector does not mean a manager wants a co-investor.

Read closing announcements in context

A first closing lets a fund start investing. A final closing ends its fundraising. Neither proves that the manager is investing now, accepting new fund investors or open to your opportunity. Check which milestone the reported amount refers to, and never add first and final closing amounts together as if they were separate pools of capital.

Sources and limitations

Records are compiled from public announcements, manager websites and press reporting, with source links where available. New announcements are added as they are reviewed; changes normally appear within ten minutes.

Coverage is not guaranteed complete. Public sources can omit details, and a reported fund size is not capital left to invest. The directory does not track live deals or current fundraising status, and it is not investment advice. Confirm current information with the manager.
