Stockholm-based Creandum closes $750m fund

Stockholm-based investor Creandum has closed its "Creandum VIII" fund, with a volume of $750 million, dedicated to early-stage technology startups.

Partner Fredrik Cassel told Bloomberg that the firm plans to make approximately 30 investments from the new fund over the next two years. According to Tech.eu, half of the capital is earmarked for new investments, while the other half is reserved for follow-on funding rounds. As reported by EU-Startups, the fund focuses on investments ranging from the pre-seed to Series A stages.

Around 30 institutions from Europe and the U.S. are participating in the fund, including university endowments, pension funds, and charitable foundations (EU-Startups).

Founded in Stockholm in 2003, Creandum also maintains offices in London, Berlin, and San Francisco. Its predecessor fund, "Creandum VII," closed in June 2024 with a volume of €500 million (EU-Startups).

Relative to its population size, Sweden boasts a remarkable number of unicorns. According to analysis by Dealroom, Sweden ranks ahead of the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and the Netherlands in terms of the number of unicorns per million inhabitants.

Creandum’s portfolio includes AI companies such as Lovable, which was valued at $13.3 billion in August 2026, and Legora, which was valued at $8.8 billion in October 2026. Sweden is home to numerous promising AI start-ups, and this new fund can help ensure that more such companies emerge in the future and that existing ones continue to operate in Europe.
